“When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.” Wayne Dyer said that and he’s right. This is from the guy that also said, “change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change.” I so agree with him. Don’t you hate it when someone judges you for something, anything? Right or wrong, it stinks. Once we see what judging another is actually doing we can use that to examine our own life. Whether we have failings we are harboring or have self esteem issues of our own we can start to examine them and release them as we go. This will ultimately lead to not judging others in most cases. So, whatever we are judging in another, take the time to look at that same thing in our own life. Really examine or think about it. That’s when we tend to clearly see our judging as a reflection we may be judging about our own self. Then just deal with it, openly and honestly, and you find victory is sweet. This doesn’t mean it won’t be hard, but it will be worth it all in the end.

Judge not, lest you be judged, by others or by yourself, this is true.

Think about it!

Tradition Tuesday 1

July 31, 2012
By

Have you ever spent some time thinking how much tradition plays a part in our everyday life? Some families purpose to build tradition and heritage. Many others just keep tradition and don’t ever question why or at what cost.

That reminds me of the lady was preparing to cook a ham one day. Her young teenage daughter was helping her. She took the ham out and as was family custom cut off both ends and prepared it putting the largest part in one pot and the ends in a separate pot. Her daughters asked, “Mom, why do you cut the ends off?” Mom replies, “I don’t know exactly but I always have because that’s what my Mom did.” “Does it make it better or change the ham in any way?” asked the daughter. “No, I don’t think so, let’s call my Mother and ask her why she does it” said the Mom. So, the called the Mother and she told them, “well, I always cut the ends off of the ham because that’s the way my Mom did it.” So, the Mom and Daughter, still puzzled, planned to ask the Grand-mother and Great-grandmother, Grandmama, at the next family gathering that was the next week. That week came and once the Family was around the table enjoying a beautifully prepared meal and all the trimmings the Daughter remembered the question she had for her Great-grandmother. She asks, “Grandmama, we were fixing a ham the other day and Mom cut the ends off of the ham. She said she did it because her Mother did it. We called Grandma and she said she did it because you did it. Why did you cut the ends off when you prepared a ham?” Grandmama exclaimed, “I did it because I didn’t have a pot big enough.”

Some traditions should be questioned maybe, others shouldn’t perhaps. What about your family? Do have traditions passed on for generations that you have wondered their origin? Why not find out?

Tradition Tuesday blog post here on the Prepper Chaplain web site is to examine the value of tradition in our lives, help maintain good traditions and help start new traditions that may help to rebuild a good and peaceful society in the case of a societal collapse.

I hope you come back and check out the next Tradition Tuesday and add your comments and suggestion.

Morale Monday 2

July 30, 2012
By

Morale – According to Merriam-Webster Morale is; the mental and emotional condition (as of enthusiasm, confidence, or loyalty) of an individual or group with regard to the function or tasks at hand b : a sense of common purpose with respect to a group : esprit de corps : the level of individual psychological well-being based on such factors as a sense of purpose and confidence in the future.

So what does it take to keep morale built up high? What can boost morale when it drops to depressing proportions? What do it take to raise morale in a long term disaster? I think everyone is different to a degree but there are probable similarities according to culture. For instance, I believe music in our culture can change or keep the morale peaked, provided it’s not the blues. Even the blues get some going and can change ones perspective.

All that boils down to the question of what can we do in a crisis situation, long term disaster or what I like to refer as SitX? Are you prepared with music? Do you play an instrument or have someone close by that does? Perhaps you have several hymnals on hand for a just in case situation. I do! Perhaps there is another universal tool for boosting morale you can employ.

Progress is another morale booster. We’ll talk about it next Morale Monday!

The purpose of Morale Monday is to get you thinking about how to build, keep and boost morale in a long term SitX event and Be Prepared.

The Mystical Universe – Experience It – Part Four

(Disclaimer – this isn’t for everyone. Belief can stop the flow. If you have no desire to experience the marvelous natural bodily energy within you, come back next week. We’ll talk about something else. Peace!)

So, Brother Jim, what’s all this Mystical Stuff got to do with Prepping?

Glad you asked. One of the things that will disappear quickly if we have a SitX event is what we have come to know as modern medicine. Now, I’m not against modern medicine though I do believe it has been corrupted and made into a big business machine. The technology we have had to fix hearts, replace hips, repair nerves and ward off bacterial infections is quite amazing. Without these things certainly a lot of people would experience a lot less quality of life.

If a SitX happens and power is lost, technology is destroyed and/or a virus or bacterial agent attacks massive amounts of people, things will change drastically. Medicine as we know it will be thrown back into unknown places much like every other technology we have. The allopathic style of medicine has only been around for a short time and people will have to revert back to traditional, now called complementary and alternative, medicine. There are things that work. There are practices that have worked for centuries before we got to the modern era. Surely they may not have worked on everything and I agree antibiotics were a major step forward for the entire world. With that said some of the old types of practices included working with the body’s natural energies. I would love for everyone to experience more of what our bodies are capable of experiencing. Some energetic practices have only been discovered in the past decades or perhaps it is that they have been rediscovered since we’ve been out of touch with natural things since the mechanical and industrial revolutions.

I have tried many energy therapies and have settled on just a few that have proven to work for me. Are they cures? No! They are therapies that HELP.

I believe God designed these bodies to heal themselves. Our trouble is that we abuse them so much that we rob that ability and henceforth suffer for our lack of knowledge. If we knew better, wouldn’t we stop the abuse? Sadly to say, our society has proven that not to be the case.

I want to leave you today with several therapies I use on a regular basis. If you wish to discuss them, let’s do that. If you want to find out more them. The internet is a marvelous resource. If I can help, please let me know.

Reiki is an energy healing art that was developed after an enlightening of a spiritual man. He was able to share and teach others to share it right after a very devastating earthquake in Japan early in the 20th century. I believe it is a manifestation of Source energy and given as a gift to all who believe. It uses energy movement through the hands and is great for stress relief and a multitude of issues.

Reflexology is an ancient gift of foot, hand and ear manipulation to stir up the body’s energy in reflex form to stimulate the body to heal a particular ailment or energy blockage. The most popular form is foot reflexology and if nothing else it stimulates a wonderful relaxation response.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a relatively new technique founded on ancient principles. Developed in last couple of decades, EFT is a series of tapping on meridian points and affirmative statements around an emotion involved in a discomfort or dis-ease. It is quite remarkable and has been further developed into other therapies showing incredible results as well. Tapping, as EFT as come to be called, is beneficial for so many things and in a SitX event can been crucial to keeping calm, cool and collected.

Well, there are more I want to share so come back tomorrow and we’ll look into more therapies I have proven for myself helps keep our wits, control pain and relieve stress.

See you then.

Blessings,

The Mystical Universe – Experience It – Part Three

Howdy Y’all

I’m so glad you came. We’re on part three of The Mystic Universe – Experience It. Here’s Part One and Part Two

You may want to go back and check them out. It doesn’t take long, promise.

On to part three. I hope I don’t loose any of you here because this is where it gets exciting. Freaky but exciting.

Let’s jump right into playing with the energy we’ve felt the last two days. If you haven’t felt anything, don’t fret. Keep trying if you want. If you don’t believe or embrace this, that’s OK too. If you want to feel the energy but can’t, I can help. Email me personally or post down below and I’ll tell you more you can try.

Hold your hands out in front of you, very relaxed and just shake them. Shake all your fingers. Place one palm next to the other palm, give them a little pressure. Press them together tightly but don’t strain yourself and start rubbing your hands together like you’re warming them up. Do this about a minute and stop. Now, shake them like you did before, shake them to your sides. Great! Now, flatten your hands out with your fingers together but loosely and bring them palm towards palm together but NOT touching. Hold them about an inch and a half from each other, not touching. Just hold it. Feel a sensation. Feel it more. Now, slowly pull your hands apart a little. Let the sensation grow. Separate your fingers ever so slightly relaxing them. Pull them apart a little more and now start to cup your hands and start imagining a ball of energy. Move your hands like your forming a clay ball slowly moving your hands out as the ball grows. Further apart and allow the ball to become two balls and as your separate your hands you have a ball of energy in each hand. Now, bring each hand up to your jaw bone right near your ear, 3 or 4 inches away. I like to bring them down slightly and move them slowly around and feel the energy in my jaw as it relaxes. Keep your lips together but your teeth apart. You can hold it here for a while or move it around to the back of your neck and give yourself an energetic neck massage.

Now, what the heck is going on here? If you have experienced what I hope you have you have enjoyed the spectacular energy your body has to offer. If you haven’t, you may not have the belief for it yet, or you may need some more persuasion.

There are many, many mysterious things in this wonderfully created Universe. Vibrational energy and being able to experience are just the tip of the iceberg. I hope you have enjoyed the energy and keep coming back here. I also hope you are intrigued enough to want to know more about this awesome Universe.

I believe some types of Energy Healing are beneficial for emergency situations and are particularly good for long term stress relief. If we experience post Rule of Law or other wide spread disastrous times, some Energy Healing technique may be life saving.

TTFN!

Blessings,

BroJim

The Mystical Universe – Experience It – Part Two

(Disclaimer – this isn’t for everyone. Belief can stop the flow. If you have no desire to experience the marvelous natural bodily energy within you, come back next week. We’ll talk about something else. Peace!)

I hope you read part one on the Blog yesterday. If not, here’s the Link.

Today I would like to introduce you to a little vibrational goodness. Our bodies are vibrational too. And I’m not talking about when you’re cold and get the shivers. I’m talking about atoms and molecule and a whole wealth of vibrational particles in your body. I believe that’s the way God designed us. Everything physical is energy to some point. How you believe is fine, that’s the paradigm I choose to embrace. So, let’s get into some fun stuff, shall we.

This is an experiential thing, so once you read it, try it, you may like it.

OK, hold your hands out in front of you, very relaxed and just shake them. Shake all your fingers, let them move at the wrists and then put them together. Place one palm next to the other palm, give them a little pressure. Press them together tightly but don’t strain yourself and start rubbing your hands together like you’re warming them up. Done right, you probably are warming them up. Do this about a minute and stop. Now, shake them like you did before, shake, shake, shake… Great! Now, flatten your hands out with your fingers together but loosely and bring them palm towards palm together but NOT touching. Hold them about an inch and a half from each other, not touching. Just hold it. Do you start to feel a sensation? (If not, skip to the end or try again from the beginning, most feel something) If so, try to feel it more. If you feel it, very slowly pull your hands apart a little. Does the sensation grow? If so, pull them apart a little more and now start to cup your hands some. Move your hands slowly like your forming a clay ball. Now, just imagine the energy sensation is a ball and hold it. Enjoy the energy.

If you didn’t feel anything, don’t feel bad. Most do but some don’t. It’s OK.
The sensation many get is a tingly energy feeling and grows as they embrace the reality of it. This is your own body’s energy flowing through you all the time.

Let me know how it went.

So, what’s this got to do with Prepping? Stick around and we’ll bring it all together.
But for a start, being able to feel and use energy is great for stress relief. Here’s a link to read an introduction to Reiki, an energy healing technique, Reiki: An Introduction

Tomorrow, we’ll play a little more with the energy but it may get a little freaky for some. It’ll be fun, come on back.

Blessings!

(Disclaimer – this isn’t for everyone. Un-belief can stop the flow. If you have no desire to experience the marvelous natural bodily energy within you, come back next week. We’ll talk about something else. Peace!)

Let’s talk about vibrations. No, I’m not talking about the sound kind or the earthquake kind, I’m talking about the mystical movement of everything. Yes, everything is moving. Scientists have been studying about neutrinos. They are real mysterious things that are so tiny and flying so fast that you probably have some traveling through your body right now. Seriously, cool stuff. Read more here on Wikipedia and even more here, for some recent news at the New York Times.

The vibrations I want to talk about are the sensations you feel when someone walks into a room. The good, the bad, the yuck feeling when someone comes into a room or the feeling the whole room just lit up when someone arrives. Those are vibrational sensations our society just doesn’t acknowledge very much, but they are real, you’ve probably felt them yourself. There is a whole world out there that we can’t see, touch, taste, smell or hear, well many of us. I believe more and more people are working on relearning the ability to feel and sense many of those things. I also believe most children can sense more when they are born but quickly get it trained out of them.

So, what you talking about Brother Jim? I’m talking about another sense that can be re-developed to sense things without seeing them and the like. For instance, military folks trained in stealth and night movements are so in tune with things they can sense someone around a corner or hiding on the other side of a tree. Are these extrasensory arts or are they highly tuned perceptions? I’m talking about a mother knowing something has happened to a child 500 miles away and sensitive enough to call and find out. I’m talking about you knowing someone is walking up behind you. Not now, don’t turn around… ha ha. It’s not that mystical really, just a knowing that we know. Do you have a strange feeling when someone is looking over your shoulder?

So, how do we develop this extra sense thing? Well, now, here we go. First you have to believe it’s there. Next you have to practice. Those highly tuned and trained military personnel practice a lot. Their lives may depend on it. Vince Lombardi said, “Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.” Practice can be particularly hard in our technology driven society so I suggest some quiet time. I know it’s hard to find for some so let me suggest maybe getting away from the city a bit. Perhaps find a State or National park. If it’s safe, take a walk and leave all your digital devices behind. Lock them up though. Find a bench or a rock and sit for a spell, just listening and sensing the world around you. If you meditate, do a little of that. Breath deep and listen for silence. I can be amazing really.

There are other ways to embrace your extra senses and re-discover some of the gifts we’ve denied over the years. Most of all I just want you to embrace the possibility they exist and you’ve been missing out by not embracing them in your life.

Trust your instincts more. Try to hear what your intuition may be telling you. Be conscious of your precise intent in whatever you are doing.

So, what’s this got to do with Prepping? Stick around and we’ll bring it all together. But for a start, being able to feel and use energy is great for stress relief. Here’s a link to our Government’s site on Complementary and Alternative Medicines; NCCAM . While I don’t agree with everything they publish there, it’s a great resource for introducing people to Alternative Healing Techniques.

It’s an exciting world we live it and we’re just experiencing a tiny fraction of it. Perhaps you want to change that a little, or a lot. If you want to jump ahead of the class, check out this video to experience a charge to your energy system; http://youtu.be/UIR7dWwqKIw

Stay tuned to the Blog here and let’s have some fun.
Tomorrow we’ll dig a little deeper.

Getting Started Prepping

July 12, 2012
By

Well, you take some wood, heat some water, steam the wood and you bend it. Once you bend it enough it will come full circle and you have a wheel. Ha ha! I don’t want to re-invent the wheel here. There is so much great information already on the internet for your learning and reference.

Let me recommend a couple of places to you.

Here’s a Quick Start guide for Preppers; http://wiki.shtfmovement.com/index.php?title=Quick_Start_Guide

My Friend Chris Ray has some wonderful pages prepared for you. You could long hours here and not see it all. A Great Resource; http://preparedchristian.net/getting-started

Something you must know is the Rule of Threes; http://preparedchristian.net/the-rule-of-threes/

YouTube has a lot of Preppers doing some awesome things. I’ll recommend a few here but have probably a hundred on my subscription list. Check these out;

TheLowBuckPrepper – http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCY_635Ee1imtLulho5w9VHg
LowBuck also has good stuff, a lot of insight and down to earth information.
That is his new channel, here’s his older one; http://www.youtube.com/user/LowBuckPrepper
Check it out too.

John here tells you so much about growing your greens; http://www.youtube.com/user/growingyourgreens

This is a great site with some simply good stuff. It’s great seeing young people learning and knowing this stuff; http://www.youtube.com/user/MayeuxMinistries

The Patriot Nurse is very informative and she shares a lot of necessary stuff; http://www.youtube.com/user/ThePatriotNurse

I spend a lot of time here, even though it’s not directly prepping it sorta is, and, well, it’s Dave Cantebury, he’s not going to steer you wrong; http://www.youtube.com/user/wildernessoutfitters

The are so many on YouTube, search around. I’m sure you’ll find someone you can associate with.

I started taking FEMA courses. They have some great training online. The Independent Study Program has some great courses to take and learn a lot. Check them out here; http://training.fema.gov/IS/crslist.asp

Well, I hope this is a starting place for you. There is wealth of information out there. I also recommend you join some Forums but you may want to get some basic knowledge first. Some of the forum folks have been doing this a while and can be brutally honest.

http://americanpreppersnetwork.com/

http://www.shtfmovement.com/forum.html

And many more…

Get to know why you want to Prepare, why you need to Prepare and be confident in your direction. Don’t let fear or overwhelm get to you. If it does any at all, it proves your human, but learn ways to compensate and alleviate the fear. That’s part of Prepping too.

Blessings to ya! If I can help, let me know.

Solar Cookers

July 10, 2012
By

One of the things I believe everyone should own is a solar cooker. I have several and have plans to own several others. There is a great organization that I support and purchase from called Solar Cookers International. They have been very instrumental in helping thousands of people all over the globe to better their living conditions and help improve their quality of life.

I started out buying their Cookit for a whole $25.00

I was so impressed I had to know more. The more I saw what they did with these Cookits and other products the more I like them. I have since purchased the AquaPak, more Cookits, a seperate Water Pasteurization Indicator or WAPI, and a couple of things that aren’t currently on their web site.

These WAPI’s are great. Disease-causing organisms in water are killed by exposure to heat in the pasteurization process. Water heated to 65°C (149°F) for a short period of time is free from microbes, including E. coli, Rotaviruses, Giardia and the Hepatitis A virus. The Solar Cookers International new and improved WAPI contains a heat specific soy wax that helps you determine when water has reached pasteurization temperatures. It has a tough stainless steel cable and brass end caps that are designed to withstand high heat which means they won’t melt when used over an open flame. This feature makes the WAPI especially valuable when used over an open fire, like camping or in situations where solar cooking is not an option. It’s a very cool device and face it, if it comes to where we are having to pasteurize all of our water, it could come in handy.

Check out Solar Cookers International, you could be glad you did someday.

A Dream about Storing for Tough Times?

June 29, 2012
By

Have you ever had a dream that you need to prepare for something that is coming?

We find in the Old Testament, in the Bible, a passage about Joseph and the Pharaoh, or Ruler of the whole land, having a dream about storing food and supplies for coming hard times.

Genesis 41:1-32

“I had a dream last night,”  the Pharaoh told Joseph, “and none of these men can tell me what it means. But I have heard that you can interpret dreams, and that is why I have called for you.”

Bottom line, the Pharaoh had a dream and Joseph interpreted it for him which led Pharaoh to stockpile seven years of grain. Then hard times came and God used seven years of prosperity and preparing to bless them in the seven years of famine.

I’m a Prepper, He’s a Prepper, She’s a Prepper, wouldn’t you like to be a Prepper too?

May the Source be with You!
